The Pastry Assistant is responsible for delivering exceptional performance in their role, upholding Forbes 5-Star standards, and embodying the property’s Core Values. This position ensures the efficient and high-quality production of all pastry items. By providing meticulously prepared and consistently excellent baked goods and desserts, the Pastry Assistant contributes directly to the property’s reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and other sweet goods according to recipes and standards.
- Assist the Head Pastry Chef in all aspects of pastry production, ensuring adherence to quality, taste, and presentation standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure seamless service and timely delivery of pastry items for all outlets and events.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support brand standards by consistently producing visually appealing and delicious pastry creations that enhance the guest experience.
- Assist with inventory management, including stocking, rotating, and monitoring ingredient levels.
- Operate and maintain all pastry equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Head Pastry Chef.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or pastry certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for pastry arts.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately, work efficiently under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry trays of product.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs.
- Manual dexterity for intricate pastry work and repetitive tasks.
