Position: STEAM Instructor / Camp Assistant
Pay: $18 – $25 per hour (depending on experience)
Assistant-only responsibilities: starting at $17.50 per hour

About the Role
THE R CHILD is looking for enthusiastic STEAM Instructors / Camp Assistants to join our summer camp team. This role combines teaching and supporting camp activities, helping children explore exciting STEAM topics through hands-on projects, experiments, and creative challenges. You will work closely with the Camp Director and other instructors to create a fun and engaging learning experience.
Camp Dates
Summer 2026: June 29th - September 4th
Staff must attend paid training prior to camp.
Responsibilities
- Lead or assist STEAM activities and workshops
- Help campers with projects involving science, technology, engineering, art, or math
- Support classroom management and ensure camper engagement
- Assist with daily camp setup and organization
- Supervise campers during activities and transitions
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem solving
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment
- Help prepare materials and equipment for activities
Qualifications
- Experience working with children (camp, tutoring, school programs, etc.)
- Interest in STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, coding, vex, art, math)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Energetic, responsible, and patient
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- College students, recent graduates, or educators are encouraged to apply
Preferred Skills
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Coding
- Robotics (LEGO, VEXIQ)
- Engineering projects
- Drones
- 3D-printing
- Science experiments
- Art & creative design
- STEM or STEAM education
