The Center for Outpatient Surgery (TCOPS) is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team!
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, efficient surgical environment and supporting the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments
- Operate sterilization and cleaning equipment according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Perform and document biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring of sterilization cycles
- Maintain sterile supplies, inventory levels, and instrument tracking
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments
- Maintain appropriate PPE and supplies throughout patient care areas
- Assist with stocking surgical and anesthesia supplies
- Perform infection-control disinfection during operating room turnover
- Maintain accurate sterilization and quality-control documentation
- Follow facility policies and applicable infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an approved Sterile Processing training program
- Current CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of sterile processing experience preferred
- Ambulatory Surgery Center or hospital experience preferred
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization, decontamination, and infection-prevention practices
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
Compensation & Benefits:
· Pay Range: $26-$31 an hour
the starting rate within this range for this role varies depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
