The Planet Group has partnered with a Montana based company to locate and Azure Cloud FinOps Engineer to help design and implement processes, tools, and governance that optimize cloud financial management within an Azure environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring cloud resources deliver maximum business value while maintaining financial accountability and operational efficiency.
The Cloud FinOps Engineer will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and finance teams to monitor cloud usage, analyze spending trends, and implement cost optimization strategies. This individual will help establish best practices for cloud cost management, forecasting, reporting, and governance.
This is an onsite role. However, a generous relocation package can be provided for candidates who are interested. As it is a fulltime role, ALL CANDIDATES must be able to work on a W2 with no sponsorship required. No Third Party inquiries, please.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cloud financial management strategies to optimize Azure cloud spending
- Monitor and analyze cloud usage and cost trends to identify savings opportunities and inefficiencies
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide visibility into cloud consumption, budgeting, and optimization opportunities
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to improve resource utilization and cost efficiency
- Forecast future cloud costs based on usage patterns, growth projections, and organizational goals
- Implement tagging, governance, and cost allocation strategies to improve financial accountability
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to cloud billing and usage
- Collaborate with cloud providers and internal stakeholders to optimize pricing models and service utilization
- Support budgeting, financial planning, and operational reporting related to cloud infrastructure
- Research and apply industry best practices in cloud financial management and FinOps
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of experience working with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure operations
- 3 years of experience managing and optimizing Azure cloud costs, billing, and financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management and cloud cost optimization strategies
- Strong understanding of Azure cloud services, resource management, and billing models
- Experience analyzing cloud usage, identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing cost-saving measures
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or willingness to obtain certification within six months
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in highly regulated or enterprise environments
- Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or other financial reporting platforms
- Experience implementing cloud governance, tagging strategies, and cost allocation frameworks
