Job Title: Material Handler (Radioactive Waste Specialist)
Starting Pay: $25-30/hr plus OT available
Location: Indianapolis IN
Schedule- M-F 7:30am-4pm
- They are opening to both degreed candidates and non degreed candidates
- Someone with a hands on background works well for this role
- This position is very hands on
- There is room for advancement and they are building another facility they are going to need supervisors and leaders for
- They will be receiving Radioactive material from a cancer facility
- They will scan this material and sort into specific drums based on type
- They will be wearing protective gear at all times including: gloves, glasses, tyvek suit, boots and sometimes a lead vest
- They will have 3 separate monitors on their body at all times
- Facility is temp controlled
- Forklift is a bonus but not a must
Our client is looking for a Material Handler - Radioactive Waste Specialist. This Specialist frequently handles radioactive, hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
Responsibilities: Technical:
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Flexibility with working schedule as start and end times may vary
- Developing a strong working knowledge local site requirements and state and local regulations
- Assist EHS team as requested
- Participate in Rad focused training and development
Hands-on:
- Handle chemicals and hazardous waste in small and large containers
- Handle low level radioactive waste
- Utilize a Geiger counter as well as other tools to assess levels of radiation in industrial waste streams
- Perform onsite waste management routine & regulatory inspections
- Prepare and manage routine waste shipments including creating all transportation documents as required by regulations
- Willingness to wear a respirator when necessary
Customer Service:
- Provide clients with high-quality and professional customer service
- Professional attitude, high energy, and high-level communication skills required when dealing directly with client representatives
- Support our on-site Emergency Response during working hours
Basic Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of, or interest in, hazardous waste field
- Self-motivated person with the desire to learn
- Ability work independently
- Successful completion of OSHA/DOT physical examination which includes drug and alcohol screening
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
- Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to work overtime on a regular basis
- Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday)
- Availability to work weekends as needed
