Full-Stack Java Developer with Azure

Planet Technology has partnered with a Chicago, IL company to locate a full-stack Java Developer for a contract role.

This position will be a hybrid role and requires 3 days a week onsite in Chicago. If you are not local to the Chicago area and cannot interview in person, please do not send your resume.

The successful candidate must have a passion for building robust, scalable software solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a collaborative spirit, and a proven ability to mentor others while staying up to date with emerging technologies. This role will involve working in an agile environment to deliver high-quality, efficient, and consistent solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with technical teams and developers to design effective solutions, identify technical requirements, and develop project plans for solution delivery.
• Participate in agile software development processes, including test-driven development, automated unit testing, and pair programming.
• Mentor and train developers to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge of current technologies and best practices.
• Adhere to established coding standards and group procedures, both individually and as part of a team.
• Conduct code reviews and integration testing to ensure quality and functionality.
• Engage in the requirement specification process for new software functionalities.
• Maintain design consistency with development standards and guidelines.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7 years of professional experience in IT and software development.
• Proven ability to work effectively with offshore development teams.
• Proficiency in Java (Java 8 or newer) and frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and JPA.
• Experience developing single-page applications (SPAs) with React or Typescript preferred
• Expertise in Kubernetes and Docker
• Must have understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Must have experience with Azure ( AKS, APIM, App Gateway, Key Vaults, Front Door, etc.)
• Strong experience in designing and building efficient RESTful web services.
• Solid understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and related principles.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum project environments.
• Familiarity with industry-standard design patterns and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Proficiency in unit testing using tools like JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Jest, or similar frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of databases such as MSSQL and Oracle, including the ability to write complex SQL queries.
