Overview
The Planet Group is seeking a Manager – Workday Financials to join a fast-paced, high-impact accounting and finance team for a large multi-brand enterprise headquartered in Leawood, KS. This role reports directly to the SVP of Finance & Accounting and serves as a hands-on Workday Financials lead—responsible for reporting, dashboard creation, FDM maintenance, and optimization of business processes.
You will be a team of one—owning the system and partnering cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and IT to ensure Workday Financials is driving operational accuracy, insight, and automation across the business.
Responsibilities
- Own the administration, support, and evolution of Workday Financials, including Financial Accounting, Procurement, Supplier Accounts, Employee Expenses, Banking & Settlement, and Projects
- Maintain and enhance the Foundation Data Model (FDM) structure, including security roles, hierarchies, and cost centers
- Design, develop, and maintain complex reports and dashboards (Composite, Matrix, Advanced) to support Finance and Accounting decision-making
- Partner with IT and Workday stakeholders to implement system changes, new modules, or Workday release updates
- Build and maintain calculated fields, condition rules, and configuration changes in Workday Financials
- Serve as internal SME for Workday Financial reporting and data integrity, supporting end-users and maintaining system governance
- Track system modification and enhancement requests and ensure changes are made with proper approval and documentation
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and Operations to optimize reporting and finance processes through automation
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in Workday Financials (reporting, implementation, or system administration)
- Strong experience developing and maintaining Workday reports and dashboards (Matrix, Composite, Advanced)
- Deep understanding of FDM structure, cost centers, hierarchies, and financial data modeling in Workday
- Hands-on experience with Workday configuration, business processes, calculated fields, and rule logic
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High level of initiative, independence, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with Workday Prism and Accounting Center (purchased but not yet implemented)
- Experience with Allocations, Intercompany Transactions, and automation of financial workflows
- Workday Pro Certification a plus
- Prior experience in multi-entity or franchise-based business models
- Familiarity with GAAP accounting, financial operations, and best practices
