Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Experience
- Relevant experience in electrical distribution engineering or a similar role
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with distribution design and analysis tools
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and GIS applications preferred
- Familiarity with power system modeling and simulation tools
Knowledge & Competencies
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, equipment, and protection schemes
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications
- professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
Key Responsibilities
Distribution System Design
- Design and optimize electrical distribution systems, including overhead and underground lines, substations, transformers, and associated equipment
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Perform load flow, fault, and voltage drop analyses to evaluate system capacity and performance
- Identify risks and implement solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability
- Maintain accurate records of distribution assets
- Conduct condition assessments and recommend maintenance, upgrades, or replacements
- Select and specify equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, and protective devices based on system requirements
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance system reliability, resilience, and power quality
- Support grid modernization and continuous improvement initiatives
- Evaluate requests for new service connections
- Assess system impact and design infrastructure to support customer growth
- Manage distribution projects from concept through completion
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to meet schedule and budget requirements
- Support response efforts during outages and emergency events
- Perform system assessments and develop restoration plans
- Analyze data from SCADA, smart grid technologies, and other monitoring systems
- Use insights to support planning and operational decisions
