What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Engineer position at Brooksource?
This role focuses on designing and supporting electrical distribution infrastructure that delivers power to homes, businesses, and communities. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and field teams to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient energy delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design of electrical distribution systems (overhead and underground)
- Support analysis such as load flow, voltage drop, and fault calculations
- Work with equipment including transformers, substations, and protective devices
- Utilize tools such as AutoCAD and other engineering software
- Help evaluate new service requests and infrastructure needs
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and field personnel
- Support outage response and system reliability improvements
- Maintain accurate system and asset documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
- Exposure to power systems or electrical distribution (academic or internship)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools preferred
- GIS knowledge is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work on-site in Auburn, AL
