Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMMs to ensure accuracy.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing tooling to prevent production downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience as a Tool Maker, including building, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of conventional and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDMs).
- Strong ability to interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T specifications.
- Expertise in precision measurement techniques and the use of metrology equipment.
- Solid understanding of material properties, machining processes, and heat treatment.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
- Experience operating and programming CMMs or other advanced metrology equipment
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology
- Welding or advanced fabrication skills for tool repair and modification
