Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dimensional inspection of first article parts against engineering specifications.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to identify critical features.
- Utilize precision measurement equipment, including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and various gauges.
- Verify material certifications, special process compliance, and finish requirements.
- Generate detailed First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 or customer standards.
- Document all inspection results accurately, including non-conformances and deviations.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve inspection discrepancies.
- Maintain and troubleshoot inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Expertise in operating a diverse range of precision measurement equipment, including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and reporting (e.g., AS9102).
- Solid knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency in CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation or programming.
- Advanced understanding and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with 3D CAD software for model-based inspection.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
- Knowledge of metrology lab equipment calibration processes.
