Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis milling machines using CAM software.
- Create detailed setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions for machine operators.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds to maximize efficiency and part quality.
- Verify CNC programs using simulation software to prevent collisions and ensure accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and debug existing programs on the shop floor to resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with design engineers and machinists to improve part manufacturability.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive library of CNC programs and related documentation.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for programming processes and cycle time reduction.
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM) for generating toolpaths.
- Expertise in G-code and M-code programming for CNC milling machines.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and workholding strategies.
- Experience with multi-axis (3, 4, or 5-axis) CNC milling operations.
- Experience with 5-axis CNC programming.
- Proficiency in G-code/M-code editing and optimization at the machine control.
- Experience designing custom fixtures and workholding solutions.
- Familiarity with CMM programming or advanced metrology tools.
- Proficiency in multiple CAD/CAM software platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Mastercam, Esprit).
