Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines using CAD/CAM software.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and workholding devices for various machining operations.
- Create detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and operational instructions for machine operators.
- Simulate and verify CNC programs to ensure collision avoidance, optimize tool paths, and improve cycle times.
- Troubleshoot and debug programs on the machine, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired part quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with design engineers and machinists to refine part designs and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all programs, revisions, and tooling specifications.
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM) for toolpath generation.
- Strong understanding and ability to read, write, and edit G-code and M-code.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proven experience in programming multi-axis CNC milling machines for various materials.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, and machining strategies for optimal efficiency and quality.
- Experience operating CNC mills and setting up tooling/fixtures.
- Proficiency in post-processor development or editing.
- Ability to design or contribute to workholding fixture solutions.
- Experience with advanced G-code simulation and verification software (e.g., Vericut).
