Field Application Engineer – New York, NY
Overview
We’re seeking a Field Application Engineer to work closely with clients and development teams on technical deployments, support, and enhancements. This role bridges engineering and customer success by providing hands-on expertise during product integration and ongoing optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with developers and QA teams from project initiation through validation.
- Create technical documentation tailored to client-specific solutions.
- Support customer onboarding, including hardware setup, server software installation, initial configuration, and training.
- Define, document, and refine processes for technical support and troubleshooting.
- Build, maintain, and improve internal tools that assist with system monitoring, configuration, and diagnostics.
- Enhance lab infrastructure used for validation, testing, and monitoring.
- Identify opportunities for product improvement and provide input on future technical direction.
- Keep current with industry trends in trading technology, networking, and market data systems through research and event participation.
- Travel occasionally (approximately 5–10%) for customer visits, technical workshops, or industry events.
Qualifications
General
- Strong problem-solving ability with experience in diagnosing complex systems and applications.
- Capable of balancing multiple priorities with attention to detail.
- Skilled at managing technical interactions with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Able to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Clear communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
Technical
- Proficiency in Linux environments, with strong C/C and scripting (Python or similar) skills.
- Familiarity with FPGA development is a plus.
- Solid grasp of operating system internals, including kernel fundamentals.
- Strong networking knowledge (multicast, TCP/UDP, routing, etc.).
- Experience with the software/hardware/FPGA development lifecycle.
- Background in financial services or trading systems is beneficial.
- Knowledge of low-latency market data protocols, execution protocols, or ticker plant technology is highly desirable.
Other Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of development experience.
- At least 1 year in a technical, customer-facing role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Salary : $130,000 - $180,000
