SUMMARY
Under direction of the Vice President of Information Technology, the Application Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting software applications that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery at ADAPT Community Network. This role works closely with users and cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, develop solutions, and integrate systems, with a focus on nonprofit and human services platforms. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with problem-solving skills to optimize applications such as Blackbaud FE NXT, Medisked, Paylocity, and other enterprise systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key duties and responsibilities of the Application Engineer include but are not limited to:
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
- Design, develop, and test software applications to meet organizational and departmental needs.
- Integrate new applications with existing systems, ensuring compatibility, security, and performance.
- Provide technical support to resolve application-related issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
- Collaborate with IT staff and business units to deliver effective solutions and align applications with strategic goals.
- Monitor application performance and implement system updates, patches, and optimizations.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements or upgrades to enhance organizational capacity.
- Train end-users and provide ongoing support to promote the adoption of technology solutions.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes as appropriate.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in application engineering, software development, or related technical role.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with database systems such as SQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Customer service orientation and ability to train end-users.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience working with nonprofit systems such as Blackbaud FE NXT, Medisked, and Paylocity.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR platforms and HRIS systems.
- Experience with application integration tools, APIs, and middleware.
- Knowledge of information security and compliance requirements related to data systems.
COMPENSATION: $60,000 - $80,000 Annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications Industry-Leading Benefits!
