We are seeking a Director of Strategic Operations to serve as a key partner to the Managing Partner and leadership team, helping drive firm growth, optimize operations, and turn strategic ideas into actionable, repeatable systems.
Position Overview
The Director of Strategic Operations is a hybrid strategic–operational leader responsible for improving firm efficiency, building business systems, managing strategic initiatives, and supporting organizational growth. This role combines elements of business strategy, process optimization, project management, and internal operations.
The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced professional services environment. You will help the firm scale by refining processes, implementing new systems, improving workflows, and ensuring strategic objectives translate into daily execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Partner closely with the Managing Partner to translate vision into actionable plans, processes, and milestones.
- Drive strategic initiatives across the firm, ensuring alignment, execution, and accountability.
- Assess business opportunities and operational bottlenecks, providing data-driven recommendations.
Operational Excellence
- Build, streamline, and optimize internal workflows to increase efficiency and reduce friction.
- Develop and maintain firm-wide operating systems, SOPs, and best practices.
- Implement tools and technologies to improve productivity, collaboration, and client service delivery.
- Manage key operational functions, ensuring the firm runs smoothly and effectively day-to-day.
Process & Systems Development
- Oversee the creation and refinement of planning, onboarding, and service delivery processes.
- Integrate new systems (CRM, planning tools, task management platforms, compliance tools) into the firm.
- Monitor and evaluate performance metrics to support continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Support
- Coordinate with advisory, client service, compliance, and administrative teams to improve operational alignment.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives as the firm grows.
- Facilitate communication and ensure clarity between departments and leadership.
Quality & Compliance
- Support adherence to regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and professionalism across operational work products and processes.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years of experience in operations, business strategy, consulting, or a related field.
- Experience in a financial services, wealth management, accounting, legal, or other professional services environment.
- Strong project management and process-building skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work onsite in Garden City, NY five days per week.
Preferred
- Experience implementing operational systems in a growing advisory or boutique firm.
- Familiarity with wealth management workflows, compliance, or client service operations.
- Background working directly with firm leadership or in a Chief-of-Staff–type capacity.
