What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Coordinator position at The Phoenix Group?
Responsibilities:
- Promote and consistently model the Firm’s Client Service Principles through teamwork, high-quality work product, and professional interactions.
- Deliver exemplary client service to both internal and external clients; proactively support client-focused initiatives across the department and teams.
- Respond to peer and team requests with an understanding of how each request supports client or Firm needs.
- Utilize the Firm’s financial systems, workflows, and tools to support the Client Accounting team by reviewing, assigning, and completing ad hoc requests, including prebills, inventory reports, invoice copies, and general billing inquiries.
- Monitor service levels within workflows to ensure timely, accurate responses to requests.
- Review and interpret Outside Counsel Guidelines, documenting billing-related requirements for Firm clients.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of client and matter setup processes; audit matter setups for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide backup support to the Client Accounting team, including coverage during team member absences and assistance with prebill distribution during the monthly billing cycle.
- Assist with audits and reconciliations of financial data, including reviewing and submitting electronic billing files to clients.
Qualifications:
- Some college coursework in accounting or business preferred; associate’s degree strongly preferred.
- Prior billing experience preferred but not required; strong interest in developing a career in legal accounting required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with peers and internal clients.
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to assess requests, respond thoroughly and efficiently, and keep stakeholders informed on complex matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; willingness and aptitude to learn new systems and applications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Firm operations and business matters.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
