Role Overview
The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining PostgreSQL and DocumentDB environments, ensuring data integrity, high availability, and system performance. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, this position drives database optimization, security, and compliance to support impactful research and analytics initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary administrator for PostgreSQL and Amazon DocumentDB instances, monitoring uptime, performance, and reliability.
- Assist with management and monitoring of Databricks catalogs, clusters, and scheduled jobs.
- Perform database tuning, implement indexing strategies, analyze query performance, and proactively troubleshoot issues.
- Manage database patches, updates, migrations, and scaling efforts to ensure operational stability and scalability.
- Enforce best practices for security, access control, and data governance across cloud-based data platforms.
- Design and review schema structures and data models to support application development and business needs.
- Collaborate with software engineers and data teams to ensure efficient database integration, data lifecycle management, and storage optimization.
- Document technical metadata, data lineage, and support compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, GCP, and relevant data privacy standards.
- Partner with Business Intelligence teams to develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Support ad-hoc data analysis, troubleshooting, and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of reporting outputs.
Core Qualifications & Requirements
- 3 years of experience supporting SQL and NoSQL database environments in a professional setting.
- Proven proficiency managing PostgreSQL databases and administering Amazon DocumentDB or similar NoSQL/document platforms.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Experience with cloud-native data platforms, especially Databricks, Spark, and AWS cloud services.
- Familiarity with data security, access control policies, HIPAA, GDPR, and data governance practices.
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable database solutions aligned with application needs.
- Experience working with Power BI or equivalent reporting tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience within healthcare, clinical workflows, or enterprise SaaS environments.
- Familiarity with customer-centric product frameworks, such as Jobs-To-Be-Done.
