Part-Time HR Generalist
The Phillip Charles Group is seeking an experienced Part-Time HR Generalist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client, a well-established, privately owned manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned HR professional looking for a flexible schedule in a small, casual work environment.
Position Details:
- Pay: $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
- Type: Part-Time, Contract-to-Hire
- Location: On-site
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and general employee inquiries.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and offboarding, particularly for manufacturing and warehouse positions.
- Serve as a liaison between employees, union representatives, and management to address workplace concerns.
- Process weekly payroll for plant employees and semi-monthly payroll for office staff using ADP Workforce.
- Assist with benefits administration, including health insurance, 401(k), and employee enrollment.
- Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, and assist with workers' compensation matters.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and personnel files.
- Support HR policies, employment compliance, and general administrative functions.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in an HR Generalist or similar hands-on HR role.
- Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments strongly preferred.
- Previous union experience and familiarity with employee relations in a unionized workplace.
- Recruiting experience for hourly, entry-level, and production positions.
- Working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, FMLA, and workers' compensation.
- Experience with ADP Workforce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and provide practical, employee-focused HR support.
