Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft internal memoranda, client advice, and persuasive briefs.
- Manage factual investigations, including document review, witness interviews, and responses to IRS information requests.
- Support matters before the IRS Examination Division, IRS Independent Office of Appeals, and in federal litigation.
- Participate in eDiscovery, deposition preparation, and defence of depositions.
- Work collaboratively with senior associates and partners across substantive tax disciplines.
- 1–3 years of tax controversy, tax litigation, or relevant government experience (IRS, Treasury, DOJ).
- Strong academic credentials with excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of working under time-sensitive deadlines.
- LLM in Tax is beneficial but not required.
- Experience working directly with the IRS or the DOJ Tax Division is advantageous.
- Genuine interest in tax disputes, factual development, and complex statutory interpretation.
