Position Summary:
The Sales & Business Development Director is responsible for driving commercial success of the Metal Products Division across eFab and Elcon Precision. This includes developing new business, managing customer relationships, conducting regular customer visits, generating sales forecasts, and providing market insight and strategic direction. The role supports both organic and inorganic growth initiatives in precision metal manufacturing, including photochemical etching, metal joining (e.g., brazing), and related technologies.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities in target sectors (medical, defense, aerospace, semiconductor, green energy).
- Maintain and grow existing customer relationships through regular communication and on-site visits.
- Develop and present accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports based on customer activity and market trends using CRM and other methods.
- Generate regular sales performance reports and updates that track progress toward monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
- Monitor competitive activity, customer feedback, and market dynamics; provide insights to inform company strategy.
- Represent the company in a professional, technically knowledgeable manner during customer interactions, trade shows, and industry events.
- Support quoting activity, proposal development, and contract negotiations in collaboration with estimating, engineering, and operations teams.
- Provide strategic commercial input for growth planning, including expansion into adjacent markets and evaluation of acquisition targets.
- Maintain up-to-date records in CRM system, including opportunities, activities, follow-ups, and key account data.
- Report regularly to leadership on sales performance, key opportunities, market conditions, and risks.
- Collaborate and communicate with colleagues professionally to build and model trust and effective teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, business, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales or business development in advanced manufacturing or precision metal components.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as photochemical machining, brazing, stamping, or similar technologies.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting customer relationships.
- Self-directed, strategic thinker with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and data reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for customer visits, trade events, and site meetings.
Performance Metrics:
- Achievement of assigned sales and revenue targets.
- Number and quality of customer visits and relationship development activities.
- Timeliness and accuracy of sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and sales performance updates.
- Identification and execution of growth opportunities in existing and adjacent markets.
- Clarity and usefulness of market intelligence and competitive analysis shared with leadership.
- Effectiveness of communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders to support company goals.
