Job Description:
A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Sleep Center Medical Director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This will involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care and education. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician as outlined in the RPSGT Handbook.
- Follow sleep clinic’s protocols related to the sleep study.
- Excellent communication and writing skills necessary to explain procedures and proper documentation as outlined in the clinic’s policy and procedure manual.
- Ability to set- up and conduct all types of sleep disorder testing.
- Must have understanding of all aspects of sleep medicine and its related disorders, as well as complete technical knowledge of sleep diagnostic equipment. To include but not limited to: baseline polysomnography, Bipap / Cpap Titration and studies, Oxygen supplementation and titration, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), and Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) in accordance to the AASM guidelines and clinic’s policy and procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and able to solve problems and tasks in a timely professional manner.
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintenance of sleep study equipment in a professional manner and properly storing equipment and supplies as well as getting the room set-up for the next scheduled test.
Qualifications:
- RPSGT Certification only
- Minimum 6 months in Sleep Study setting preferred.
- Current BLS certification
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Covid vaccination required.
