Summary
The Associate Museum Educator supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by implementing educational presentations and activities to onsite groups and individuals, in line with the initiatives of the Boeing Academy for STEM Learning. This position leads the public and visitors in the educational program deliverable areas of the Museum to enhance visitor experience and support learning. This position may assist with various education department programming planning and needs.

The Museum of Flight offers part-time employees benefits which include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave (80 hours) per year for the first 4 years, 10 paid working holidays, 403(b) retirement plan and a 25% discount at the Museum Store.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $27.55 per hour depending on experience.

- Execute and facilitate Museum educational presentations and activities to both small and large groups of school-aged learners and Museum audiences, adhering to programming timing and instructions.
- Interact with visitors and guests, providing a great customer service experience and knowledge about Museum educational programs and beyond.
- Gain familiarity with the Museum campus and assigned work areas to ensure up-to-date and accurate knowledge of general Museum information, safety protocols, and accessibility.
- Assist in ensuring visitor compliance with Museum policy and protection of artifacts.
- Work independently and within a team environment as directed to deliver and enhance creative museum-based programs and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Two (2) years college experience in education, science, or museum related field of study. Will accept related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to two (1-2) years relevant experience within a youth educational setting.
- Basic knowledge of education standards and practices in teaching and learning that actively engages learners.
- Knowledge of STEM preferred.
- Demonstrated facilitation skills that engage and inform audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and education levels.
- Displays good customer service skills and follow-through.
- Possesses good communication skills through verbal, non-verbal, and written communication methods.
- Works effectively with diverse groups, including staff, students, teachers, parents, and volunteers.
- Good organization, attention to detail, and problem solving.
- Willingness and ability to learn aerospace concepts and history, as well as STEM content.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with larger audiences.
- Innovative in practice, remains open to new ideas, and is able and willing to adjust technique as needed.

- Able and willing to occasionally work a flexible and/or extended work week which may include some evenings and/or weekends based on Museum need.
- Onsite attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position.
