The Minnesota Star Tribune has an exciting opportunity to join our Event Crew. This team will assist with a variety of Minnesota Star Tribune owned and partnered events including: The State Fair, PRIDE, Minnesota sports team activations and more! This is a temporary position with hours that vary based on events. The majority of events are scheduled May through September. Most shifts are 5 hours in length. $16.50 an hour.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparations and execution of Minnesota Star Tribune events including but not limited to: packing and organizing event materials, loading-in and out of event venues, etc.
  • Potential to travel to events and festivals around the state of Minnesota.
  • Manage event activations including:
    • Set-up and tear-down of each event.
    • Effectively engage with guests at events.
    • Promote The Minnesota Star Tribune in a positive and energetic manner.
  • Assist with promotional contests and giveaways.
  • Support as a handler for The Minnesota Star Tribune mascot, Stribby, when on-site at events
  • Know the in’s & the outs of digital subscription product offerings
Qualifications

  • Ability to work nights and weekends, some daytime events are also available.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Strong listening and verbal communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, and punctual
  • Customer service and event experience preferred.
  • Interest in marketing, activations, and event planning.
  • A working, reliable vehicle is required to transport event materials and a valid unexpired driver’s license.
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TM, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

If in office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, mouse, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office, outside the office the noise level will vary depending on event location and the use of surrounding equipment. The office environment will have normal lighting and climate control tolerances. Work from home office environment may differ from the physical offices in Minneapolis, MN.
