Our client, an enterprise semiconductor equipment manufacture is seeking a skilled PCB Designer to support the design and development of complex, high-density printed circuit boards for advanced wafer processing systems. This role works closely with Electrical Engineering to deliver reliable, high-performance PCB layouts across a wide range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist engineers in the design and development of complex, detailed PCB layouts.
- Collaborate on state-of-the-art designs for new and modified high-density printed circuit boards.
- Establish and maintain PCB design standards, configurations, and best known methods (BKMs).
- Develop layouts from preliminary schematics, part lists, and functional descriptions provided by engineering.
- Perform PCB layout design reviews and detailed drawing checks to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Support schematic review, documentation updates, and design release through formal design reviews.
- Train and mentor drafters on drawings, specifications, and design processes.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic components and integrated circuitry.
- Analyze equipment performance, conduct tests, and evaluate results to support design decisions.
- Select components and equipment based on specifications, performance, and reliability.
- Review and assess vendor capabilities as needed to support product development.
- Contribute to limited cable design efforts as required.
Technical Focus
- 80% PCB layout work supporting internal Electrical Engineering customers
- 20% schematic checks, documentation, and design reviews
- Design and layout of multi-layer PCBs (up to 40 layers) including:
- High-speed digital
- Analog
- RF
- Power
- Technologies include Coaxial, RF, Ethernet, USB, and dense pin-count designs (2–15 pins)
- Experience working with D-sub connectors and complex interconnects
- Incorporation of Siemens Verilog where applicable
- Boards designed for semiconductor wafer processing equipment
Required Skills & Tools
- Cadence Allegro (required), preferably versions 17.4–22.1
- OrCAD Schematic Capture
- Strong experience with PCB layout for complex, high-density designs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience & Background
- Mid-level experience preferred (5–10 years); senior-level candidates will also be considered
- Semiconductor process equipment experience preferred
- Candidates from aerospace, medical, automotive, or other regulated industries are welcome
