What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safe Summer Staff - Summer 2026 position at The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission?
All Safe Summer program staff are required to attend pre-service training and obtain a CPR and First Aid certification prior to the beginning of the program. Staff will assist in implementing, participating in and evaluating Safe Summer programs and special events.
Must be 21 years of age with a demonstrated desire to actively support positive youth development. Background in working with teens and pre-teens in recreational settings is a plus, but not a requirement. Evidence of responsible management, supervision and administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This combination should demonstrate an applicant's ability to direct and be responsible for a major program with minimal supervision. All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills. College degree in appropriate field preferred but not essential.
Since this is a summer only position, there is no paid vacation, holiday or sick leave. These positions are seasonal and do not include a benefits package. This position pays $21.75/hr dependent upon qualifications. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
