Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law, including but not limited to estate planning, environmental law, and family law. This role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively. The Paralegal will assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings while ensuring that all legal documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive litigation support under the attorney’s supervision.
- Maintain and track the litigation docket, ensuring the attorney is aware of upcoming deadlines and hearings.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents with precision.
- Organize case files and ensure all necessary documents are complete and accessible.
- Coordinate scheduling of hearings, depositions, and meetings.
- Calendar all court settings and case-related deadlines.
- Handle all e-filing with state, county, and local courts.
- Correspond with courts and opposing counsel in a professional manner.
- Assist in gathering and organizing client information to support case preparation.
- Conduct thorough legal research.
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs and others as assigned.
- Assist in the preparation of cases for litigation by organizing evidence and preparing exhibits.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for cases.
- Provide executive administrative support to attorney, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
- Handle data entry tasks accurately while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Collaborate with attorney on project management tasks related to ongoing cases.
Qualifications
- 3 years proven paralegal experience with a strong understanding of legal terminology, litigation practice, and the Texas Rules.
- Familiarity with various areas of law including personal injury law, consumer law, and landlord tenant law is preferred.
- Strong writing skills with an emphasis on legal drafting and e-filing.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast paced environment independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, and maintaining records.
- Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
