Our client, Movement Schools, is a rapidly growing network of free, public charter schools serving students in pre-K through 5th grade. Founded in Charlotte, Movement Schools currently operates six charter schools and multiple pre-K programs across North Carolina and Georgia, serving more than 1,500 students and continuing to grow its presence across the Southeast.
The Opportunity
Movement Schools seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy and infrastructure necessary to support continued multi-state expansion. This role is based in either Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC.
Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will serve as both a strategic architect and operational executor, responsible for designing and leading the network’s financial strategy and regulatory framework. This leader will strengthen financial systems, ensure strong multi-entity fund management, safeguard regulatory compliance, and steward the long-term financial health of the organization.
The CFO will oversee financial planning, compliance, reporting, cash management, and financial operations for a complex and rapidly growing organization.
Key priorities include:
- Leading financial planning and forecasting for an approximately $50M multi-entity budget
- Building scalable financial systems and infrastructure to support growth
- Strengthening financial reporting and internal controls across the network
- Supporting facility financing strategies and new school expansion
- Building and leading a high-performing in-house finance team
