Food manufacturer in the Mount Pleasant, TX area (<2 hours from DFW) is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to oversee and optimize their end-to-end supply chain operations. Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Oversight: Strategy and execution of procurement, inventory management, warehousing, demand planning, and logistics.
- Procurement & Supplier Management: Source and negotiate contracts with raw ingredient suppliers and packaging vendors. Establish robust KPIs for vendor performance regarding quality, pricing, and on-time delivery.
- Inventory & Shelf-Life Control: Optimize inventory levels to prevent stockouts while strictly managing ingredient shelf life (FEFO/FIFO practices) to minimize waste and spoilage.
- Production Continuity: Collaborate closely with the Production and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules and demand forecasts.
- Logistics & Cold Chain Management: Oversee outbound and inbound freight, ensuring strict compliance with cold chain requirements (temperature-controlled shipping and storage) and food safety standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all supply chain and warehousing activities comply with FDA, USDA, SQF, and HACCP regulations. Lead traceability protocols in the event of quality holds or product recalls.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks, implement cost-saving initiatives, and leverage ERP systems to improve operational visibility.
- Experience: 5 years of supply chain or logistics management experience specifically within food manufacturing or a closely related perishable goods industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (APICS/CSCP certification is a plus).
- Technical Skills: High proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills for demand planning and data analysis.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of food safety regulations (FSMA, SQF, HACCP), cold chain logistics, and material traceability.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop warehouse, purchasing, or logistics teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Problem Solving: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think critically when dealing with supply chain disruptions, ingredient shortages, or logistics delays.
