Manager, Middleware

About the Role

We are hiring a Middleware Messaging Manager to lead a team supporting enterprise messaging platforms in a 24/7 environment. This role combines people leadership, technical ownership, and hands-on expertise across messaging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of ~6 engineers supporting Kafka and MQ platforms
• Oversee on-call rotation, incident response, and production support
• Drive implementation, configuration, and optimization of middleware systems
• Support both existing platforms and new product development
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance across environments
• Lead high-visibility, cross-functional projects
• Implement automation, monitoring, and disaster recovery solutions
• Maintain documentation, enforce security standards, and promote best practices
• Manage team priorities, delivery timelines, and day-to-day operations

Minimum Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in platform, middleware, or infrastructure roles
• 5–7 years of management or team leadership experience
• Experience operating in 24/7 production environments
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments
• Familiarity with Agile (Jira, sprints)
• Relevant certifications (AWS, CKA, CKAD)

Technical Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Kafka and/or MQ (ideally both)
• Experience with message-oriented middleware and distributed systems
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Ansible) and automation
• Familiarity with microservices, cloud-native architectures, and networking
• Understanding of security, encryption (SSL/TLS), and ITIL practices
