Custodial Supervisor / Assistant Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a Custodial Supervisor to support Environmental Services (EVS) operations in a hospital setting. This role is responsible for supervising custodial staff, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and supporting daily operations during the second shift.
The ideal candidate will have prior supervisory experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team in a healthcare environment. This position may also require hands-on cleaning and sanitation duties as needed.
Position Overview:
Client is seeking temporary coverage while conducting a long-term search for a permanent hire. Potential for contract-to-hire depending on performance and business need. Position supports hospital environmental services operations and requires prior hospital/healthcare EVS experience.
Team Structure:
- Supervising approximately 20 employees
- Includes oversight of 1 lead employee
- Non-union environment
- Coordination with 2nd shift manager required
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Staff scheduling
- Conducting inspections and quality checks
- Managing room turnover/discharge cleaning priorities
- Leading morning huddles
- Responding to operational issues (supplies, staffing, cleaning concerns)
- Coordinating cross-functionally with nurses, custodial staff, and hospital personnel
- Addressing disciplinary/performance concerns
- Ensuring staff cleaning cards/tasks are assigned properly
- Supporting interviews and onboarding activities
Systems/Equipment:
- Some system access provided initially
- Computer proficiency required (Excel/basic systems usage)
- Equipment onsite includes auto scrubbers and hospital EVS cleaning equipment
Required Experience:
- MUST have hospital or healthcare EVS/custodial supervisory experience
- Prior leadership/supervisory background required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong time management and urgency around room turnover
- Comfortable handling employee accountability issues
Compliance Requirements:
Candidates must begin required vaccination/immunization series prior to start and provide documentation.
