Job Summary
We are seeking 4 highly skilled Automation Controls Engineers to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced automation and robotics cells across North America. This role is responsible for automation standards, project execution from concept through startup, and serving as a subject matter expert supporting multiple manufacturing plants.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Fanuc Robotics, Allen-Bradley PLC systems, and industrial controls, along with the ability to lead integrators, train plant teams, and support production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation projects from technical specification through installation, launch, and production support
- Design and develop electrical control systems, equipment, and PLC programs
- Write, implement, test, and debug PLC and HMI software
- Support installation, startup, and ongoing production of automated cells
- Develop robust, fault-tolerant programming to maximize equipment uptime
- Document and apply control standards for automated systems
- Support implementation of both existing and newly developed automation technologies
- Lead and support automation risk assessments and safety compliance activities
- Train and mentor plant controls engineers and technical staff
- Coordinate with internal teams, external integrators, and suppliers
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, and error-proofing projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field (required)
- 3–5 years of experience in automation controls or a similar role
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (RSLogix 500 / 5000, FactoryTalk HMI)
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc Robotics (programming or strong working knowledge required)
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America
- Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical schematics and drawings
- AutoCAD experience
- Experience coordinating and managing control systems
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards, including:
- OSHA 1910
- Machine guarding
- Robot safety (ANSI/RIA R15.06)
- Experience supporting automation risk assessments
- Working knowledge of MS Office tools
- Baluff IO-Link programming
- Atlas Copco ToolsTalk programming and torque tool integration
- Servo-driven equipment controls and programming
- Vision systems for robotic guidance and offset correction
- Experience with MES system integration
- Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV/AMR) experience
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
