Forklift Operator FT

SUMMARY 

Responsible for the storage, picking, and movement of materials in the warehouse. Responsible for the safe operation of material handling equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Operates equipment including, but not limited to: Tow motors, reach trucks (both wire guided and non wire guided), powered hand-jacks and pneumatic hand jacks to move material from pallets, trays, racks or shelves.   

1. Responsible for the safe operation of all equipment, including attending training, following safety regulations, and maintaining required safety inspection logs. 

1. Reads work order(s), utilizes RF scanners, or follows oral instructions to get materials or containers to be moved.  

1. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, and shelves by hand or with equipment. Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. 

1. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated areas. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination. 

1. Counts, weights and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet(s).   

1. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers according to established inventory management procedures.  

1. Breaks down boxes and stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together. 

1. May assist in the Shipping and Receiving Departments as required. 

1. Employees in this position may be required as part of this job to move to multiple locations within the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma/GED preferred; and 6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

At least six (6) months related experience and/or training required.  

Previous experience using an RF Scanner is preferred. 

Subject to a drug screen upon offer.   

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to complete simple forms. Ability to follow instructions as it relates to Safety, Quality and Performance 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50bs. This position works in an indoor warehouse environment.
