Workers Compensation Manager
Compensation: $100-110k bonus

Role Summary
The Workers Compensation Manager serves as the enterprise subject matter expert responsible for overseeing all aspects of workers compensation claims and strategy across corporate and field operations. This role plays a critical part in mitigating risk, managing financial exposure, and ensuring regulatory compliance in a complex, multi state environment.
This position provides leadership to a small internal team while partnering closely with HR leadership, legal, and external partners. The role is both strategic and hands on, requiring deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to stabilize and strengthen team dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full lifecycle of all workers compensation claims across multiple states
- Proactively manage claims to accelerate closure, reduce costs, and mitigate organizational risk
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for workers compensation, including reserves, settlements, and litigation strategy
- Ensure compliance with state workers compensation laws and internal policies
- Partner with leave administrators to coordinate workers compensation, FMLA, and ADA integration
- Oversee and support two direct reports, providing leadership, coaching, and accountability
- Manage relationships with third party administrators and claims carriers
- Analyze claims data and trends to inform strategy and continuous improvement
- Seven plus years of experience managing workers compensation programs in house
- Direct experience working with Sedgwick as a workers compensation carrier or administrator
- Strong multi state workers compensation legal and regulatory knowledge
- Experience supporting self insured or self administered programs with high deductible exposure
- Demonstrated ownership of claims strategy including reserves, settlements, and litigation decisions
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookup functions
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage challenging personalities
- Clear communicator with sound judgment and the ability to work cross functionally
