Join a nationally recognized desert metropolis advancing digital government and public-safety transparency. This role supports one of the country’s largest municipal law-enforcement agencies by delivering secure integrations and intuitive user experiences for a modern crash-report request portal and its connected enterprise systems.
The Integration Engineer & UX/UI Designer owns end-to-end integration between the public portal, enterprise CRM platform, records systems, financial systems, and payment services—while leading user-centered design for both residents and internal staff.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Integrations
-
Design and implement integrations with a leading public-safety records management system to retrieve redacted and unredacted crash reports, including rules governing exposure based on requestor type.
-
Build and maintain integrations with the municipal ERP/financial system to send daily reconciliation files for portal payments, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
-
Implement and support secure integrations with the city-selected online payment processor, including status callbacks and notifications to the portal and CRM platform.
-
Define integration architecture and patterns (APIs, batch processes, and message-based flows), including error handling, retries, logging, and monitoring.
-
Ensure integrations meet criminal-justice information security requirements and municipal IT standards (authentication, encryption, and role-based access).
-
Collaborate with platform and data leads to define data mapping, metadata tagging, and indexing logic enabling fast, accurate search and retrieval in the portal.
UX/UI Strategy & Design
-
Lead UX research and design for the public crash-report portal: user journeys for search, eligibility determination, payment, and document download, including error and exception paths and support touchpoints.
-
Produce wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs for the portal and related staff-facing screens, ensuring accessibility compliance and alignment with municipal digital branding.
-
Conduct usability testing with representative public users and internal personnel; iterate designs to reduce friction, clarify eligibility questions, and minimize support contacts.
-
Establish UX standards and design guidelines supporting long-term portal evolution and consistent user experience across public-safety records services.
Documentation & Operational Support
-
Document integration specifications, data flows, and monitoring approaches; develop runbooks for ongoing support and incident response.
-
Provide UX guidelines and training materials for staff handling exceptions, customer support workflows, and portal configuration.
-
Partner with technical and operational teams to troubleshoot integration issues and optimize flows to maintain uptime and fulfillment targets.
Required Technical Qualifications

Strong experience designing and implementing system integrations using RESTful APIs, file-based exchanges, and/or message queues in Azure or comparable cloud platforms.
-
Familiarity integrating enterprise systems such as public-safety RMS, ERP/financial platforms, and payment gateways.
-
Knowledge of secure integration practices (OAuth or similar authentication, TLS encryption, logging, and monitoring).
-
Experience with Azure integration services (Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management) or equivalent.
-
Proficiency with modern UX/UI tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch) and front-end design patterns.
-
Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA), responsive design, and designing for varied devices and connection conditions.
Required Functional Qualifications
-
Experience designing user journeys for public-sector portals involving eligibility checks, payments, and document delivery.
-
Ability to translate public-records statutes and criminal-justice data requirements into integration and UX constraints (identity validation, redaction access rules).
-
Strong analytical troubleshooting skills for integration performance and reliability optimization.
-
Clear communication and documentation skills supporting operational handoff and future enhancements.
