The Greer Group has a great temp to hire opportunity open for an experienced Quality nspector in the Asheville area!
The Quality Technician will assist in maintaining the effectiveness and compliance of the Quality Management System (QMS) to relevant customer and ISO requirements while ensuring products and purchased materials meet all applicable standards and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with evaluation and testing of purchased materials at receiving and accept materials into the ERP system
- Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to help resolve nonconformance issues with purchased materials
- Assist in developing receiving inspection sampling plans, procedures, and work instructions
- Review supplier certificates of compliance and test reports for validity
- Support investigations related to customer complaints and returned materials
- Perform calibration of gauges, inspection tools, and test equipment
- Conduct ISO internal auditing functions as needed
- Identify defects and production issues during manufacturing processes
- Evaluate data to validate compliance and identify deviations from standards
- Complete detailed inspection documentation and reports according to company and customer requirements
- Prepare defective/non-conforming material reports and coordinate disposition activities
- Support data collection and quality improvement projects
- Assist with documentation control and corrective/preventive action processes
- Maintain quality statistical and trend data reporting
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or equivalent hands-on technical training preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control inspection environments
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance/Control practices
- Knowledge of calibration and metrology practices
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and optical test equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements
- Knowledge of ISO audit practices and techniques
- Experience with data collection methodologies and statistical analysis
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment
- Position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to inspect small components and products
- Frequent computer/data entry work
- Ability to handle inspection tools, instruments, and small fiber optic products
