Job Overview
Grifols Laboratory Solutions Inc. is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Specialist to provide hands-on technical support for day-to-day clinical and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for molecular and serologic testing of patient and manufacturing samples, maintaining rigorous quality control (QC), and participating in method validations. You will ensure all duties are performed with operational efficiency while maintaining strict regulatory compliance in a cGMP environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory Testing: Perform high, mid-complexity, and routine tests. Handle patient molecular/serologic and manufacturing testing with precision.
- Data Management: Ensure accurate data transfer and electronic report generation. Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for sample accessioning and to sign off on test completions.
- Quality & Compliance: Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly QC of equipment and systems. Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality System Essentials (QSE), and cGMP guidelines.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform annual calibrations on equipment. Identify potential instrument or reagent problems and escalate issues to the Lead.
- Process Development: Assist management in the development of new assays, perform feasibility studies, and participate in validation protocols.
- Administrative Support: Utilize Microsoft Office tools to summarize quality metric data. Use MediaLab software to document deviations and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) submissions.
- Client & Internal Communication: Report incorrect sample submissions to management and communicate written reports to clients. Assist in training new employees and performing competency assessments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field is required. CLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Experience: This is an entry-level position; no previous experience is required. 12 months or less of experience in a clinical or research lab environment is considered a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Practical knowledge of immunohematology and molecular procedures (including NAT testing).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and technical writing for regulated documents.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with clients and all levels of management.
Occupational Demands
- Physical Tasks: Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs). Frequent sitting (4–6 hours/day) and occasional walking, bending, or twisting.
- Precision Work: Ability to use calibrated micropipettors for extended periods, involving repetitive action.
- Environment: Work is performed in both lab and office settings. Occasional travel within the United States may be required.
