Job Description:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect resident care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promotes resident comfort and safety, and helps maintain the highest quality of care while preserving each resident's dignity and independence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and personal care.
- Assist residents with toileting, continence care, and changing incontinent products.
- Help residents with eating, drinking, and meal setup as needed.
- Transfer, reposition, and ambulate residents using proper techniques and equipment.
- Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other assigned measurements.
- Answer call lights promptly and respond to resident needs.
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nurse immediately.
- Assist with restorative nursing programs and activities as directed.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident rooms and care areas.
- Document care provided accurately and timely according to facility policies.
- Assist in transporting residents to activities, appointments, and meals.
- Promote resident rights, dignity, privacy, and independence.
- Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Attend required in-services, staff meetings, and training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in the State of Missouri (or ability to obtain certification if participating in a training program).
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a healthcare team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and transfer residents with appropriate assistance and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
Working Conditions
- Frequent interaction with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and healthcare environments.
- Fast-paced setting requiring flexibility and teamwork.
- Must follow all infection control and safety regulations.
