Bartender Part Time

Job purpose

Prepare, pour and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to the members, guests and prospects visiting The Ford Field & River Club dining facilities. Position requires the knowledge and creativity of a mixologist including food/wine pairings and wine presentation and service.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Exhibit strong beverage/wine knowledge, and be professional and gracious, while enhancing the member experience through outstanding service skills.
2. Stocks the bar and completes other pre-opening requirements. Arranges bottles and glasses to create an attractive and appealing display.
3. Prepares garnishes, fruit mixes and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening the bar. Mixes, prepares and serves drinks to members and guests and mixes and prepares drinks ordered by food and beverage servers.
4. Complies with basic safety and sanitation requirements.
5. Maintains and cleans bar area and equipment.
6. Basic knowledge of the Jonas system.
7. Knowledgeable of all aspects of the department and daily club operations, including events and opening hours.
8. Collects member name/number for drinks ordered, in lieu of cash.
9. Maintains knowledge of the dinner and bar menu and be able to serve from both menus.
10. Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
11. Ensures that all members, guests and co-workers are treated in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Ford Field & River Club.
12. Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
13. Understands and follows policies and procedures of the Food & Beverage department and The Ford Field & River Club.
14. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School diploma required and must have a minimum of 2 years of previous work experience in a luxury or private club environment.
• Bartending certification highly preferred. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the bartending trade, drinks and their composition.
• Good organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of club’s POS system or comparable POS system preferred.
• Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
• The successful candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills for a high degree of interaction with members, guests and prospects.
• Must be able to project a professional, yet friendly and outgoing attitude.
• Professional appearance required.

Licenses/Certifications

• Alcohol beverage card/certification
• Food Safety Certification
• Of legal age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages

Working conditions

Works in an indoors or outdoors environment . Must be able to work irregular hours as required, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach. Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation in a noisy environment. Must have hand usage to handle bottles and glasses.
