Summary/Objective
Logistics Specialist is a key administrative and logistics execution role for industrial ingredients, flavors, and seasonings. A qualified individual will work closely with our operations and sales team, supporting all facets of the shipment preparation to receipt details process. In the daily execution of this position, the individual will work directly with Sales, Accounting, and Operations. The ideal candidate must be a self-driven, team player with initiative and strong writing and communication skills.
Essential Functions: The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing the movement of goods and materials through a combination of full truckload, less than truckload, international ocean shipments and parcel shipments. These shipments may include shipments on inbound materials, inter-site transfers based on business needs, as well as outbound shipments to customers. The Logistics Specialist has the potential to work closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure that all logistics operations run smoothly and meet customer expectations. Additionally, The Logistics Specialist includes tracking shipments, handling documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to shipping and logistics.
Responsibilities/Skills/Abilities
Utilizes independent judgment to manage transportation schedules, optimize routes, and coordinate shipments across various carriers.
Has authority to make decisions in negotiating with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable rates and service levels.
Dispatches freight movement to appropriate transportation company's in order to meet customers and or TFSI operational expectations.
Communicates, answers inquiries and provides documentation to customers, transportation company's and shipping facilities.
Ability to understand and operate in all areas of the logistics operation.
Support the logistics team with daily reconciliation of all related documentation.
Support keeping the Transportation Management System updated. Execute the daily reconciliation of carrier invoices and assist with the freight approval process.
Manage the daily activity to ensure customer expectations are achieved or exceeded. Participates in a 'customer centric' culture within the team.
Confirm the proper documentation has been received and properly completed for all shipments.
Communicate with key stake holders including carriers, brokers, customers and internal departments. Proactively work with the entire TFS team to assist in problem resolution.
Ability to use computers, software and other technology for transportation, inventory and communication purposes.
Work Experience Requirements
2 years of experience in logistics, customer service or related field within an office environment.
Bachelor's degree with a focus in supply chain or related field of study.
Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, and NVOCCs
Tracking shipments and addressing delays or exceptions
Education/Knowledge Requirements
Proficient working with ERP, Microsoft suite with extensive excel experience.
Transportation Management Systems Experience, Preferred.
Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.
Excellent time management skills.
Attention to detail and problem solving.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Experience with international shipments (familiarity in Incoterms, documentation, US Customs procedures)

Physical Requirements
Work involves sitting most of the workday greater than 50% of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Typing and applying pressure with the fingers and palm required.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Work Environment/Hours
The work environment: routine office setting with potential for partial remote days.
Full-time Office hours are typically 8:30-5:00pm, Monday-Friday with occasional overtime.
