Job Overview
The Night Auditor checks guests in and out in a friendly, prompt, and professional manner; processes all payments according to established procedures; and accurately balances all hotel income and expenses for the 24-hour operating period.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests in a friendly, prompt, and professional manner
- Answer telephone calls promptly and professionally
- Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room locations
- Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions, including posting charges, completing cashier reports, preparing deposits, and securing assigned banks
- Reconcile all daily transactions and perform nightly audit duties
- Identify and report discrepancies or potential liabilities to the Front Office Manager
- Communicate outstanding guest requests or issues requiring follow-up
- Respond to guest complaints and perform appropriate service recovery to ensure total guest satisfaction
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with all departments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for fire alarms, medical emergencies, and police incidents, following established hotel safety and emergency procedures
- Act as the hotel system liaison during overnight hours
- Contact IT Support and open service tickets as needed for system failures or technical issues
- Transmit credit card batches and prepare morning management reports
- Follow the night audit checklist, including reconciliation of rooms and reservations
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including guest room tours, concierge services, special guest requests, and front office administrative tasks
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous Night Audit experience is required
- Fluent in English; additional languages preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods behind the front desk and throughout the front office area
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Proficiency in using computers, keyboards, and hotel property management/reservation systems
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays
