Ready to take the next step in your accounting career? The Encompass Group is partnering with a growing spray foam roofing contractor to identify an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team in Mesa, AZ.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly AIA pay applications and customer billings, applying percentage-of-completion revenue recognition principles.
- Oversee accounts receivable activities, monitor aging reports, follow up on outstanding balances, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Prepare, review, and collect monthly subcontractor and vendor lien waivers.
- Manage project accounting activities, including general ledger project assignments, documentation, and project closeout.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and support the month-end close process.
- Maintain the general ledger, reconcile balance sheet accounts, research discrepancies, and prepare adjustments as needed.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses to support management decision-making.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated experience in construction accounting, ideally with a contractor or project-based construction organization.
- Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, AIA billing, subcontractor lien waivers, and project accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience working with construction project accounting systems and processes.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or other advanced ERP platforms.
- Experience preparing financial reports and supporting external audits.
