What are the responsibilities and job description for the Botanical Restoration Technician position at The DPI Group?
DPI Staffing is hiring a reliable Botanical Restoration Technician for one of our top-notch customers in the Portland Metro area. If you like working outside and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this could be a great fit. In this role, you’ll help care for natural areas through invasive plant removal, vegetation restoration, herbicide application, and general fieldwork. You’ll also assist with projects tied to the Bull Run Filtration and Pipelines, the Bull Run Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP), and the invasive species program. Most of the work is hands-on and outdoors, with some GIS data entry and light office work mixed in. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being in the field, follows safety guidelines, and is open to earning required certifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Support vegetation stewardship and restoration projects assigned
- Identify and remove invasive plants using hand tools, power tools, or herbicides (in approved areas)
- Plant and care for native vegetation
- Collect field data, keep accurate electronic records, and clearly communicate site conditions and progress
- Use GPS/GIS tools to track plant populations and document restoration work
- Enter and manage data using standard computer applications
- Work independently and with a team to spot and address early invasive species issues across managed sites
- Assist with botanic collections and other restoration or stewardship projects as needed
- Support maintenance and restoration of conservation easements through monitoring, site assessments, native planting, and targeted weed control
- Take detailed field notes and assist with daily and regulatory reporting as required
- Must hold a Valid Driver License
- Candidates will be required to obtain and maintain an Herbicide Applicator’s License through the Oregon Department of Agriculture within six (6) months of working.
