The Journeyman Manual Gear Cutter will support daily production operations by setting up and operating manual gear cutting equipment to manufacture precision components that meet established quality standards and production requirements. Job Title: Journeyman Manual Gear Cutter
Pay Range: $35.00β$45.00 per hour DOE, with opportunities for overtime
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor manual hobbing, shaping, and bevel gear cutting machines in a production setting
- Perform the duties of a Manual Machinist focused on precision gear cutting and machining processes
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine proper machining and production methods
- Produce precision gears that meet quality, tolerance, and production standards
- Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and gear measuring equipment
- Perform routine machine maintenance to support consistent production output and equipment reliability
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve machining, Gear Cutter, or production issues efficiently
- Collaborate with production team members, engineers, and supervisors to improve workflow, quality, and overall production efficiency
- Strong working knowledge of manual gear cutting machinery and Gear Cutter operations
- Demonstrated experience as a Manual Machinist in a production or job shop environment
- Solid understanding of machining processes related to gear manufacturing and production machining
- Strong mathematical skills for precise measurements, calculations, and gear setups
- High attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality and production accuracy
- Effective problem-solving skills related to machining, Gear Cutter setups, and production challenges
- Ability to work independently while supporting team-based production goals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Manual Machinist or Gear Cutter in a production manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating manual hobbing, shaping, and bevel gear cutting machines
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications
- Proven experience producing precision gears while meeting production schedules and quality standards
- Ability to consistently meet production deadlines while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency
