The Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving technical documentation that supports products, processes, systems, and operations. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and subject matter experts to develop clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for internal and external audiences.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical documents including:
- Work instructions
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- User manuals
- Installation guides
- Maintenance procedures
- Training materials
- Product specifications
- Process documentation
- Quality system documents
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, quality personnel, and other subject matter experts to gather technical information.
- Ensure documentation complies with company standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems.
- Review and revise existing documentation to improve clarity, accuracy, and usability.
- Manage document control processes, including version control and document approval workflows.
- Create and maintain document templates and formatting standards.
- Develop visual content such as diagrams, flowcharts, screenshots, illustrations, and process maps to support documentation.
- Coordinate document reviews and obtain approvals from stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain electronic document repositories and records.
- Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing required documentation.
- Assist with employee training by developing instructional materials and documentation resources.
- Continuously evaluate documentation processes and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2 years of experience in technical writing, document control, engineering documentation, manufacturing documentation, or a related role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with document management systems and version control processes.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, medical device, aerospace, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, GMP, or other quality management systems.
- Experience with CAD software and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with ERP, PLM, or document control systems.
- Experience creating process flowcharts, technical illustrations, and training materials.

- Health care insurance benefits available first of the month following 60 days of employment. Thirty (30) hours worked per week must be averaged in order to maintain coverage. 401k enrollment is available per the Secure Act guidelines.
