Job Summary: The Probation Officer Aide plays an essential role in carrying out the work of the Court and furthering the primary mission of the Department of Probation Services (DPS) to ensure the safety and protection of the community, uphold accountability, and aid in the rehabilitation of supervised individuals. The Probation Officer Aide supports the department by conducting tasks related to mandatory DUI requirements and providing support to Probation Officers in the administration of the House Arrest Program. The Probation Officer Aide assists in the efficient and effective operation of DPS and provides support services and assistance to other DPS staff, clients, the Court, local government, and community representatives. Good communication and relationship-building skills are thus essential.
Hours of Work: The individual working in the position of Probation Officer Aide traditionally follows the operating hours of the Adams County Court of Common Pleas, which is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. However, it is to be understood that the Court may set hours, change start and end times, require working through lunch periods, require overtime work, require weekend and/or evening work, or in any other way adjust schedules as needed to ensure the availability of judicial services to the public and to ensure efficient court operations.
Education, Experience and Training Requirements:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, Social Work, Business, Paralegal or related field is preferred, OR a combination High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) and a minimum of approximately 2 years of related experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Criminal background checks and clearances, including but not limited to fingerprinting, as directed.
- After hire, successful completion and, if required, continued recertification of the following:
- Court Reporting Network (CRN) certification.
- Certification in Defensive Driving
Pay Rate: $20.60/hour
