How You Will Make An Impact
- Operate and adjust the paver screed to achieve specified mat thickness, cross-slope, and surface texture.
- Make real-time screed adjustments in response to changing mix temperatures and subgrade conditions.
- Monitor and maintain a consistent head of material across the full screed width to avoid defects.
- Set screed extensions, end gates, and auger extensions accurately for variable-width paving.
- Coordinate closely with the Paver Operator on machine speed, temperature settings, and stopping procedures.
- Participate actively in joint construction, including heating joints and placing precise wedge cuts.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable screed operation experience on commercial or roadway paving projects.
- Working knowledge of screed mechanics, including vibratory systems and tamper bar operations.
- Proven ability to read and interpret detailed paving plans, cross-sections, and smoothness specifications.
- Solid reputation as a reliable team player who understands paving aesthetics and structural standards.
- Physical stamina to ride the screed and work in outdoor environments for extended shifts.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing edge details and material distribution under variable mix conditions.
- Experience performing pre-shift equipment checks and routine maintenance on screed heating components.
- Prior experience executing complex joint construction on tight-tolerance government or federal sites.
