I. Summary of Position
Operate, control, and evaluate Consolidated’s water treatment plant operator team information, activities,
and personnel by training, monitoring, and performing routine operational and skilled technical work with
equipment, processes, and systems to report and advise on treatment performance, and manage the water
treatment operator personnel and activities of targeted complexity with latitude for independent judgment
in moderately structured work.
II. Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Water Treatment and the indirect supervision of the Chief of Operations & Maintenance.
III. Supervision Exercised
Supervisory duties are applicable to managing a team of trade operators at varying skill levels.
IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Operate and maintain water treatment plant materials, equipment, and technology by inspecting,
handling, maneuvering them, or reviewing information from reports, people, and the environment
to ensure quality operation and management.
· Monitor and inspect water treatment equipment, processes, and performance by planning,
communicating, training, and reviewing the systems, materials, events, and the environment to
detect or assess problems, make recommendations and corrections, and evaluate to ensure
optimum quantity, quality, control in the process, systems, instrumentation, and compliance with environmental and public health standards.
· Obtain and process information by observing and receiving data through inspection, tests, reports,
meetings, and events to compile, audit, verify, and record the quality of things, services, and
performance; and establish, maintain, and oversee standard operating procedures by documenting
and reviewing guidelines stored in written or electronic form to ensure optimal operations
through proper procedures, quality assurance and control parameters, and analysis standards.
· Perform laboratory procedures and analysis by obtaining information from all relevant sources
and evaluating data and results to determine whether results, events, and processes abide by laws,
regulations, and standards, and may report compliance to the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency and the Colorado Department of Health.
· Ensure appropriate selection, management, and evaluation of direct reports by organizing and
leading trade operators of different skill levels on the team to operate efficiently while
encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
· Guide and motivate direct reports by setting standards, monitoring performance, and providing
coaching and encouragement through relevant, timely feedback to develop and retain the best
talent.
· Expand and maintain knowledge of the industry developments by identifying opportunities and
changes in circumstances or events related to company business to apply new knowledge, skills,
or abilities on the job and foster greater understanding among internal and external associates.
· Represent the organization to associates, stockholders, the public, government, and vendors by
communicating respectfully and conveying a positive attitude with people inside and outside the
company in person, writing, or by telephone or e-mail to report information, updates, and share
Business-related news.
· Exercise good judgment and decision-making by evaluating options and selecting the best
approach to make choices, solve problems, and promote safety in the workplace, especially in an
environment frequently exposed to hazardous conditions and materials.
