our team. JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the performance of a variety of
laboratory procedures involved in blood center operations; testing,
sample preparation, component preparation, quality control, labeling,
storage and distribution. May also be cross trained in blood donor
collection activities. SCHEDULE: Full-time position, 40 hours/week
Typically, hours range between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., weekdays, with
on-call coverage for weekends on a rotation basis ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned): 1. May perform all or
some of the following testing activities: Antigen typing, residual WBC
testing, high titer screening, pH testing, and hematology analyzer
operation. 2. Responsible for properly shipping and handling test
samples. 3. Performs required equipment maintenance, temperature
monitoring and QC accurately and on a timely basis. 4. Prepares, stores,
labels and ships blood components and reagent donations as necessary. 5.
May be responsible for delivery of blood to local customers on a backup
or emergency basis. 6. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of
computer data entry, review of work, and competency and proficiency
performance. 7. Takes after-hours, weekend and holiday on-call rotations
With Testing, Distribution Or Other Associated Responsibilities. 8.
Performs bacterial inoculation of apheresis platelet products as
required by applicable regulations and SOPs. 9. May perform donor center
collection activities including but not limited to: donor registration,
screening, phlebotomy and aftercare. 10. Assists as needed, with the
training of new laboratory staff or new procedures. 11. Maintains a
neat, clean work area. 12. Appropriately separates and packages
biohazard waste. 13. Accountable for the economical use of materials and
the proper use of equipment while performing duties and
responsibilities. 14. Complies with all policies and procedures as
outlined in the CBC Employee Handbook, CBC SOPs or directives. 15.
Maintains current level of job-related skills by attending inservices
and training sessions and reading publications. 16. Attends staff
meetings, mandatory CBC inservices, continuing education programs and
other meetings as required. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND
QUALIFICATIONS: JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor\'s
degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory
science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or
Individual must have earned an Associate Degree in a Laboratory Science
or Medical Laboratory Technology program from an accredited institution.
Preferred Individual Is ASCP Certified (or Equivalent) Or Eligible.
Meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing, 42 CFR 493.1489.
Previous Laboratory Experience Preferred. Excellent Organization, Oral
and written communication skills. Able to follow and perform procedures
with accuracy and attention to detail. Must be skilled in accurate
documentation with emphasis on details. High level of assessment skills.
Must be cordial in dealings with fellow employees, customers and donors,
if applicable. Requires high degree of acute vision, standing, walking,
moderate amounts of lifting, carrying and bending. Must maintain a neat
clean work area, and present a neat and clean appearance, dres ing
professionally. May be exposed to potentially infectious agents,
electrical equipment, and needles. Employee may occasionally be required
