Adjunct: Rate or rates of pay: $1,020 per credit for undergraduate courses; $1,112 per credit for undergraduate courses after 40 credits are taught within a five-year period; $1,352 per credit for graduate courses. Any future updates to per credit rates of pay will be reflected within the electronic contract.
Job Summary
The College of St. Scholastica seeks qualified candidates to serve as Dignitas faculty during the 2025-2026 academic year. Reporting to the Associate Director of General Education, Dignitas faculty will be responsible for teaching in the first-year seminar, which encompasses a sequence of two 4-credit special-topics courses, during fall and spring semester, and will serve as an academic advisor for the approximately 25 students in the section.
Dignitas Mission And Format
Dignitas is the mechanism by which the College supports students in their transition to the College, creating a common intellectual experience using the lens of dignity, diversity, and our Catholic, Benedictine heritage. The two-semester sequence places students with a consistent faculty member, peer mentor, and a small group of peers to encourage engagement and development of a sense of community. The first semester of the program focuses on “the responsible self” and the second semester on “dignity for all.” Dignitas faculty are supported in their work with curriculum modules on vocation and calling. Faculty members customize each section with a topic of their choice that is developed in the context of human dignity, responsible living, and meaningful work. Advising activities will be supported by Student Affairs staff and by an advising model that specifies individualized meetings with each student per term, with the faculty member serving as a coach who assists students to make a successful transition to the College and connects them to resources as needed. Each section is also staffed by a mentor teaching assistant, a successful student who is available approximately five hours per week to help connect new students with the College and assist the faculty member.

Required Qualifications
- PhD or Masters degree in the candidate's academic field.
- Ability to teach in person on the Duluth campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Experience working with first-year students
- Experience with learning management systems
